BASIC FUNCTION

The bookkeeper, under the supervision of the administrator, is responsible for the receipt and disbursement of all funds accruing.  They are additionally responsible for all posting and accounting procedures involved in the handling of all funds and general secretarial duties assigned.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Keeps records of receipt and disbursement of all money received by the Franklin County Board of Education.

Keeps records of internal accounting or all individual accounts within the system.

Keeps records of individual’s attendance at work.

Maintains records of individual payroll deductions.

Maintains payroll records.

Writes checks and makes monthly financial reports.

Orders supplies.

Does typing and other correspondence for the supervisor.

Keeps records of sick leave for teachers.

Performs other specific duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge in operations of office machines.
  • Competency in the skills of bookkeeping, filing, maintaining records, organizational skills, written and oral communications.
  • Public relation skills including the ability to relate to people, demonstrate positive interaction skills, and utilize human relation skills in contacts with the public.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and work year to be established by the board of education.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of board policy for classified personnel.
