Position Title: DEAN OF STUDENTS
Responsible To: Principal
Basic Function: Provide support to Principal in carrying out the school’s academic and behavior programs. Provides proactive leadership to engage all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services to support students’ academic achievement, personal and social development. Works cooperatively towards a positive school climate.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Serves as resource for building staff, administrators, and parents in working with students, creating a positive school climate and helping students develop a positive self-concept.
- Participates or leads development of positive behavior support systems and development of intervention strategies.
- Works with principal in coordination, facilitation and implementation of disciplinary intervention steps and processes with staff.
- Supports coordination, facilitation and implementation of attendance intervention steps, including but not limited to holding attendance conferences, making home visits and preparing reports and paperwork.
- Participates in and/or facilitates school-based committees, parent involvement activities, and school-sponsored events.
- Assists in effective supervision of building staff.
- Assists in developing and implementing comprehensive plans designed to meet individual schools’ student achievement needs.
- Works with the principal and staff in the preparation and completion of reports related to student achievement and staff development.
- Assists schools in determining effective methods for the integration of curriculum standards, instructional strategies, and the development use of authentic assessment.
- Attends workshops, conferences, and meetings necessary to maintain and update professional knowledge and to provide professional development for school staff based on information obtained through these trainings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate for School Principal
- Three years of successful teaching experience
Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year to be established by the board of education.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of board policy for Professional Personnel.
