Position Title: SPEECH PATHOLOGIST
Responsible To: Director of Special Education
Basic Function: Must meet minimum standards as determined by Kentucky Certification Standards
Performance Responsibilities:
- Works with assigned agencies/schools to provide speech therapy for identified children.
- Ensure that screening and evaluation procedures are provided for these students.
- Ensure that due process procedures are followed.
- Maintain necessary records in a confidential manner.
- Work, in condition, with the Director of Special Education to meet program needs for identified students.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
- Assists the Director in locating and identifying eligible handicapped students.
- Assists by screening referred children to determine eligibility for further evaluations.
- Schedules evaluations for those children determined through screening/referral process to be eligible. Works with other professionals (i.e. School Psychologists) to ensure a complete evaluation.
- Keeps all records required by law, and due process requirements. This includes permission forms, testing (screening and other), IEP’s and documentation of parental contact.
- Works with the Director of Special Education to determine most appropriate program direction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Approved Certification with State of Kentucky or valid speech-language pathology license issued by the Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
- ASHA Certification Preferred
Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year to be established by the board of education.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of board policy for Professional Personnel.
