Position Title: Academic Assessment Assistant

 

Responsible To: Director of Special Education

 

Basic Function: To observe students and perform educational testing as part of a student’s referral to special education or three year reevaluation requirements. 




Performance Responsibilities:

 

  • Organize and schedule observations of students newly referred for evaluation by the Exceptional Children Services Department.

 

  • Organize and schedule observations of students requiring reevaluation (every 3 years) by the Exceptional Children Services Department.

 

  • Organize and schedule academic testing of students newly referred for evaluation by the Exceptional Children Services Department.

 

  • Organize and schedule academic testing of students requiring reevaluation (every 3 years) by the Exceptional Children Services Department.

 

  • Visit classrooms for observations of students being evaluated.

 

  • Conduct educational testing as assigned for students being evaluated.

 

  • Write observation summaries to include academic performance and behavior within the classroom setting.

 

  • Document behavior of students while they are completing educational testing.

 

  • Accurately score educational tests administered.

 

  • Write Educational Evaluation reports summarizing performance on educational tests such as the KTEAII Test.

 

  • Communicate professionally at all times with staff, students, and parents.

 

  • Maintain professional appearance at all times.

 

  • Adhere to education confidentiality procedures as specified by federal, state, and local   

       education agency policies and procedures.





ABILITY TO:

 

  • Communicate well in oral and written language. 
  • Provide objective, unbiased information based on observations of students. 
  • Communicate with a variety of adults and students.
  • Use computer programs efficiently.



Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • 60 college credit hours or an Associates Degree or Kentucky Paraeducator Certificate



Terms of Employment:

 

Salary and work year to be established by the board of education.

 

Evaluation:

 

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of board policy for classified personnel.
