FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT, STATE LAW REQUIRES A STATE AND NATIONAL CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK AND A CHILD ABUSE/NEGLECT (CAN) CHECK AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.

 

Position Title:           PRESCHOOL FACILITATOR

 

Responsible To:       Director of Special Education

 

Basic Function:         To evaluate and ensure that the district provides eligible children with a quality age and developmentally appropriate early childhood program. 

 

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

  1. Acts as a liaison between the Special Education Director and principal regarding special education rules, regulations, compliance requirements, program needs, school responsibilities, discipline concerns, parent requests, and other special education related matters.

 

  1. Monitors and assists the use of all special education forms at the school level including referral and placement forms, IEP’s, data entry forms, child count forms, and other forms as may be required by district policy or state statute.

 

  1. Coordinates screening and evaluation of preschool children.

 

  1. Member of the School-Based Admissions and Release Committee (SBARC). Maintains that Due Process is upheld through the referral, evaluation, and placement processes of specially designed instruction. 

 

  1. Coordinates ARC/IEP process related to preschool children.

 

  1. Coordinates transitions between early intervention, preschool, and moving to kindergarten.

 

  1. Assists with supervision of contracting agencies.

 

  1. Assists with reports and projects related to preschool programs.

 

  1. Represents FCPS Preschool Program on community based councils.

 

  1. Maintains tracking/data base of all preschool students served.

 

  1. Provides professional development and serves as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on various topics.

 

  1. Plans and conducts parent surveys at the beginning and end of school year.

 

  1. Facilitates District Early Childhood Task Force.

 

  1. Collaborates with principal in evaluating preschool staff.

 

  1. Monitors compliance with state and federal regulations.

 

  1. Conducts regularly scheduled preschool team meetings.

 

  1. Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate.

 

  1. Performs other special education related duties as may be requested by the Director of Special Programs.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Kentucky Certification in Special Education OR Early Childhood Education (Preschool); and
  • Kentucky Certification for Director of Special Education preferred but not required; and
  • Preschool experience preferred but not required

 

Terms of Employment:

 

Salary and work year to be established by Board of Education.

 

Evaluation:

 

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Board Policy for Certified Personnel.
